Every once and awhile we come across a hotel that, while not strictly a 5 star luxury property, amazes and delights us. Such is the case with the Standard Hotel in Miami. Rocking a hip '50's vibe, the Standard is located on Belle Isle, not far from the action in South Beach. The rooms are simple and comfortable, the grounds lush and tropical, the food and the spa top notch.
North South advisor Craig recently returned from a travel conference in Miami and had this to say about his stay at the Standard:
The Standard Hotel is a refurbished hotel that dates back to the 1950s, so it has a certain mid century draw to it. Located on a little island off of South Beach, it’s a bit secluded but still very close to all the action which is perfect for people wanting to be 'close' but not 'too close' to the South Beach scene. The grounds are quite beautiful, it is right on the ocean and has a gorgeous and substantial pool area with lots of lounging choices. The Lido Café is outdoors, again right on the ocean, totally cool atmosphere and the food is really, really good. I loved this restaurant! The hotel has a very unique appeal to it and might best suit a younger demographic (or the young at heart). The hotel is very popular with locals and you can buy memberships to use the famous spa and also the pools and restaurants.
