Happy 'Plan a Cruise' Month, from North South Travel!
The CLIA has released this very informative and unexpected list of exciting and adventurous activities (both onboard, and off!) of things to do on a cruise.
As cruising has evolved so much over the past decade, you may not know of these amazing little gems.
While you might have just gotten back, already booked your next cruise, or are thinking of getting your next cruise in the works, these exciting new experiences are definitely ones you’d be eager to share on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat….your family and friends will be wishing they’d come along….we hope you enjoy this as much as we did writing it!
1. Visit the South Pole
One of many bucket list places for most people would be the South Pole. Seaborn Cruises visits via a very luxurious cruise! Some of many adventures in the South Pole include skiing, climbing, take pictures of penguins and other wildlife…but one thing’s for sure, you’ll be the envy of all your friends and family back home….Antarctica....how amazing!
2. (sort of) Walk on water…..no, we’re not kidding!
It’ll definitely feel the closest you’ll be to walking on water…..on the ultra luxurious MSC Seaside, guests can wander around on 3 different walkways, while looking down over the vast blue ocean. Talk about picture perfect combined with getting your body moving and amazing ocean air!
3. Dive with the son of Jacques Cousteau, Jean-Michel Cousteau.
This is probably one of the coolest things we’ve heard all day. If you’re a big fan of anything ocean related, this is definitely for you. On select sailings of The Gauguin, with Paul Gaugin Cruises, you can learn to dive or participate in some amazing adventures if you’re already certified. Count us in!
4. Check out an amazing planetarium…you guessed it…while onboard!
The Queen Mary 2 features a planetarium. Need we say more? Probably not, but we will. Guests can experience 2 different shows, 3 times a day….one called ‘Cosmic Collisions’, and one called ‘Stars over the Atlantic’. Oh, Cunard, you never disappoint us, do you?
5. Celebrate YOU.…(that’s what’s most important, after all)
Passion is why we get up every morning and what drives our lives every day, and why not vacation at the same time? Food, health, music, whatever it is, it’s amazing to include this in your time away from your home. Talk about unique and different - Uniworld Boutique River Cruise Collection will sail its very first Jewish Heritage themed cruises in 2017. Because, why not learn about your heritage and celebrate your beliefs, while sailing away? This is sure to be a transformative experience, and a great European adventure.
6. Create unique experiences that are catered to...you guessed it…YOU!
Azamara Club Cruises makes it easy for you to experience something entirely customized to what you’d like, not what someone might think you’d like. What would you like to eat, drink, see, and experience, both on the ship and off? Customized land tours through the Private Journey’s Program is one fantastic example.
7. Experience your favourite artist…live…On a cruise ship?!
Of course most cruise lines offer nightly shows, but bringing on performers for great concerts on board is becoming more and more popular, especially for those diehard fans. Demi Lovato will be headlining for Celebrity Cruise Lines for a concert series, a total of 4 performances for each Celebrity sailings in December. On Carnival Cruise Line, comedian Jim Gaffigan will be featured, along with Sam Hunt (country music), and more! Disney will have a live production of Tangled starting in November 2017 on the Disney Magic – we’re sad we have to wait that long!
8. Enjoy a relaxing, rejuvenating, Spa experience…without leaving your cabin
I know, we were sold on the headline too. The Spa industry has been ever changing and growing throughout the past 25 years, and knowing that Regent Seven Seas Cruises won’t even make you leave your cabin for an experience, just has us even more intrigued. In-cabin Spa? Sign us up. We’ll take all the services. Thank you!
9. Cycle in the sky..sounds good to us!
Skyride is like riding a bike….above the sea….around the ship. This amazing two-lane suspended course is pedal-powered and you’ll definitely want to win this race. You’ll have the greatest view on the ship, and get some fun, quick exercise in the best way possible. Check out the Carnival Vista with Carnival Cruise Lines for this exciting experience. Along with their SkyCourse, an amazing ropes course in the sky, you won’t ever be looking for something to do.
10. Spy skills and a history lesson!
Costa Cruises, on Costa Diademia allows their guests to sharpen up their spy skills in Start Laser - a maze that tests your super-spy abilities. Viking Ocean cruises has experts on board that are there to discuss history and highlights of the regions that you’re travelling through and to. Count us in for both! We definitely need to sharpen our Spy skills, and why not learn more about where you’re going? A little knowledge never hurt anyone!
Get in contact with us and we'll set up these amazing adventures for you, your family, your friends, your neighbours....whoever!
